Your privacy means a lot to me. Data protection is of a particularly high priority for me. I care as you are about your data privacy and the recent GDPR implementation. I bet you have recently heard a lot about GDPR, and this very scary word means a General Data Protection Regulation. GDPR (EU) 2016/679 is a regulation Implemented 25 May 2018 in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union. It addresses the export of personal data outside the EU. I guess it means that any big or small company working with personal data or the photographs needs to be compliant in handling written info or images with faces. So in simple words I, as Oksana Kuklina Photography, would put it this way:
I collect your personal data such as name, e-mail and phone, because I need communicate with you and I use it only for these purposes. I need your address to post your wedding photographs or album if you opt for it. And on your wedding day I take the photographs of you and your guests, because it is my work.
How I collect and keep your personal data
I guess nothing scary here too as I have Contact Form on this website, which automatically sends your inquiry to my mail box. The same happens when you fill in an online booking form, which I consider to be my contract. All information are privately stored in my computer in a client database. If you decide not to book me or I would not hear from you for a few months, all your personal data would be deleted from my client database. If you decide to book me, some information regarding your wedding and some personal contact data would stored in a Google Doc file with restricted excess just for you and me. Google is a GDPR compliant company. This document would be deleted in a few month after your wedding day.
Right of confirmation, access, rectification and erasure
If you have questions about how your personal data is handled, you can always contact me via e-mail or phone and I will explain it to you in all the details. I would be happy to share with you all information I have on you in my database, and it would be no more than your name, e-mail, phone, address and some details about your wedding day. If you consider the information about you and your wedding to be incorrect, you have the right to change it. If you’d like me to delete all your personal data, you have the right to request it, but hopefully not before your wedding day to avoid any inconveniences. As your wedding photographer I need to know some personal details about you to be able to work with you. Anything you ask could be deleted upon request after your wedding day. I would be happy to keep your e-mail address along with your name in my database for as long as your online galleries are active online. In case you would like to close your account for your Online Gallery(es) with all your downloadable High Resolution photographs as your backup, I would gladly do it for you asap.
Use of your data
I would not use your personal data with anything, which is not connected to your wedding day or engagement/couple/love photo session. Usually it means I will use your e-mail only to contact you about your wedding or other photo sessions scheduled with me. I would not share your personal information or your e-mail with anyone else and even with the second shooter. I would not send you newsletters or anything connected with this. Any information unrelated to your wedding day like some discounts or the brochures/websites about my another services such as baby/pregnancy/family photo sessions I would send you only on your request or with your mutual consent. I do give out your wedding day schedule and sometimes phone numbers to second shooters, but only to make the communication on your wedding day more easy and to avoid any delays or inconsistencies.
In case I would love your wedding so much to submit it to some wedding blog or wedding blogger, I would always ask your consent before doing so. Very rare I find some extra time to submit some amazing photos to competitions because it is how I like to “shine bright”. And in this case I use only the images you have already given permission for me to use on my own website.
Use of your face-based data
It is not easy to understand what EU means about face protection on your photographs, and how we as the photographers need to demonstrate reasonable and legitimate use of your images. I can tell you that I won’t sell your wedding photos or share them without your permission. And just in case some third party does approach me asking me to buy one of your photos, I will email you about it. I want to assure you that it will never be done without your consent or knowledge.
As a photographer I need to show my work to run my business, mostly on on FB, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google and my own Website. If you have found me, you probably looked at photos of my real couples on these various media. I only publish the short story with the best looking photographs of you and your guests, no funny stuff as I respect people. You can always opt to keep your wedding private or let me use your pictures for my website and online services mentioned above. I will approach you after the wedding with the question if you’re fine with me putting some beautiful pictures of you and your guests on my website, FB or Instagram.
I think it’s always a good idea to make it clear to your guests that there will be a photographer capturing your day. There is always a slight possibility that some of the guests do not wish to be photographed or do not wish to appear in any of the photographs online. I respect that some people don’t want to be on the Internet. Therefore these people should make themselves known to me. You can also veto any photos you think too sloppy or not perfect enough, and it is your responsibility to ask your guests’ permission.
The newly implemented EU regulations require me just to do all decent things within my job, which I am willing to do. And as a nice person I always want to make my clients happy and relaxed.
